The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a great way for people who live with a disability, to gain access and support to a range of different services, easing the minds of the participants, their families and their carers.
For those eligible, the NDIS provides funding for a range of different services including transport, therapeutic supports, any modification needed in your home or vehicle, employment help and health and wellbeing activities.
At Active Ability, we are mobile NDIS-registered Hills District physiotherapists, meaning we can provide you with our efficient plan and participant care and management and any assistance you need with those hard-to-answer questions.
How can an NDIS Hills District physiotherapist help me?
Physiotherapists are experts in body structure, function and movement. They work with people of all ages to treat a full range of acute, sub-acute, and chronic medical conditions, as well as men’s and women’s health issues, musculoskeletal injuries, and more. Unlike Occupational Therapy where the focus is to regain the ability to perform specific skills or activities, physiotherapy treatment is often aimed at restoring or maintaining mobility, function, and wellbeing, to foster your independence and ability to participate at work, home, school and in your community. Physiotherapy can be a great way to improve your day-to-day mobility and chronic pain levels, helping you have a better quality of life.
Our dedicated NDIS physiotherapists are university-qualified allied health professionals with a special interest in providing treatment for people with disability.
An NDIS Hills District physiotherapist can help treat many things, such as:
- Recovery from injuries and surgical procedures

Paediatric Physiotherapy
Active Ability also offers Paediatric Physiotherapy for children and adolescents in the Hills District, focusing on improving their movement, function, and overall quality of life. Our expert physiotherapists work closely with young patients and their families for a comprehensive assessment of individual needs and develop personalised treatment plans.
Using a range of techniques and therapies tailored to each child’s unique requirements, we aim to enhance physical development, provide relief for chronic pain, and promote independence. Our compassionate approach and child-friendly environment ensure that every session is comfortable and effective, helping children reach their full potential.
Paediatric physiotherapy is instrumental in aiding children with mental health conditions, intellectual disabilities, neurological issues and musculoskeletal conditions.
- It enhances mood and reduces anxiety and depression symptoms by encouraging physical activity.
- It improves motor skills, balance, and muscle strength, enabling better engagement in daily tasks.
- Neurologically challenged children benefit from improved mobility, muscle tone, and posture, fostering independence and preventing the need for future therapy like musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
- For injury recovery, including sports injuries, physiotherapy rebuilds strength, flexibility, and coordination, ensuring a safe and pain-free return to activities.
