At Active Ability, we know the best way to embed healthy, sustainable physical activity and nutritional changes into your daily life is by providing support in your own environment. As a mobile company, with NO travel charge, we can provide services in your home, backyard, day program or local park, pool, gym or grocery store (or a combination). It’s completely up to you!

Where are we in Sydney?

At Active Ability we believe that the only way to embed sustainable physical activity & nutritional changes into your everyday life is to provide you with support in your environment. We are therefore a mobile company, without a travel charge. We are able to provide you with services in:

  • The Hills District: Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, Kellyville, Dural, Glenhaven, Cherrybrook & Pennant Hills.
  • The North Shore: Hornsby, Chatswood, Thornleigh, Westleigh, St Ives, Gordon, Killara & North Sydney.

Exercise Physiology in Wollongong

Phoebe Young is our Exercise Physiologist providing NDIS services in Wollongong.

Phoebe Young is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who has been working for Active Ability since 2018. She has a special interest in mental health diagnoses and intellectual disabilities; and has worked with a variety of clients, ranging in age from 5-60, living with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety and depression, autism spectrum disorder, and Down’s Syndrome among others. She also has experience working with a range of adults and children with other conditions including stroke, multiple sclerosis, blindness, spinal cord injury, and cerebral palsy among others. Phoebe is passionate about supporting her clients to achieve positive mental and physical health outcomes through regular physical activity related to their personal and NDIS goals. Phoebe provides our mobile Exercise Physiology services to the Illawarra region (between Thirroul and Shell Cove).

What NDIS category of funding does exercise physiology come under?

Through the National Disability Insurance Scheme, exercise physiology is a Capacity Building Support that can be funded through either ‘Improved Health and Wellbeing’ or ‘Improved Daily Living Skills’.

Exercise Physiology is billed as per the NDIS price guide at $166.99 per hour. Active Ability don’t charge for travel, don’t have a waiting list and are not charging the 10% Covid-19 loading.

Exercise sessions are not limited to our client’s houses but can be done anywhere that is safe and accessible. Active Ability’s mobile service allows exercise to be completed at a location suitable to you and your NDIS goals.

 

Exercise Physiology on the Sunshine Coast

Tarin Cowley is our Exercise Physiologist providing NDIS services on the Sunshine Coast.

Tarin Cowley brings a wealth of knowledge to the Active Ability team with nearly 10 years experience working as an exercise physiologist in the areas of Intellectual disability, Neurological rehabilitation, cancer rehabilitation and cardiac rehabilitation. Tarin has been working with Active Ability for the past 4 years and brings the added qualifications of a certified Pilates instructor.

Tarin likes to incorporate outdoor activities to keep her clients engaged and interested in their exercise. Luckily, the Sunshine Coast is the perfect place to exercise outdoors with a variety of parks, beaches and walking paths to choose from. Education is also another important aspect of her sessions and Tarin aims to empower each participant to become confident with completing their exercises safely and effectivly, to assist with their NDIS goals.
