Helping you do the things that matter – We come to you!
Convenient Home Visits for OT
Our NDIS occupational therapists provide personalised services in your preferred environment, including home, school, work, or local facilities. We make it easy for NDIS participants to access occupational therapy services, helping you achieve greater independence and confidence in everyday life.
Expert Knowledge & Specialised Care
Our qualified occupational therapists work closely with clients to deliver tailored NDIS occupational therapy services. With expertise in paediatric OT, mental health, developmental delay, and complex disabilities, we provide assessments, therapeutic supports, functional capacity assessments and assistive technology recommendations to help you reach your goals.
Personalised, Evidence-Based Treatment Plans
We will create an individual therapy treatment plan around your needs and NDIS goals. Through a comprehensive occupational therapy assessment, or functional capacity assessment, we set meaningful objectives and deliver practical strategies to improve daily living skills, support community participation, and build long-term independence.
What can working with an occupational therapist do for you?
Occupational Therapists play a key role in supporting people with disability, including those who have an NDIS plan in Australia. Their main goal is to help individuals improve their independence, safety, and quality of life by enabling them to participate in everyday activities like getting dressed, cooking, travelling, going to school or work, playing sports, and participating in hobbies and the community.
Active Ability’s NDIS-registered occupational therapists provide personalised services tailored to your needs, goals, and lifestyle.
Your OT will carry out a functional occupational therapy assessment to identify your strengths, challenges, and priorities. Together, you’ll set meaningful goals and work towards achieving them with practical strategies and hands-on support.
NDIS occupational therapy services can help you:
- Perform daily tasks more easily
- Move confidently and safely
- Participate in school, work, and the community
- Improve mental wellbeing
- Recover after illness, injury, or surgery
- Enhance fine and gross motor skills
- Manage sensory processing and cognitive challenges
- Build organisational skills and attention
- Communicate the support you require

Our Occupational Therapy Services
Mobile OTs at Active Ability provide personalised, evidence-based support for NDIS participants across all ages. Here’s what we can help with:
Want to feel more confident managing your day-to-day life? We work with you to build daily living skills for independence, including personal care (showering, dressing, grooming), meal preparation, and managing household responsibilities.
We support you in accessing the community, using public transport, and participating confidently at school or work. Whether it’s building routines or developing social skills, we’re here to help you live more independently and meaningfully.
We handle comprehensive assessments so you don’t have to manage complex paperwork or multiple reports. This simplifies NDIS planning and funding.
- Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA) – Used to identify your current support needs and justify funding under the NDIS.
- Equipment prescription reports – Supporting access to assistive technology or functional home changes.
- Home modification assessments – Justifying changes to your environment to improve safety, accessibility, and independence.
All FCAs are NDIA-compliant.
The right equipment can make a huge difference in your everyday life; we’re here to make the process easier. Our OTs get to know your needs and recommend suitable options, from walking frames, scooters, and wheelchairs to shower chairs, grab rails, and braces.
We support access to adaptive kitchen tools, communication devices, and smart home technology. We’ll help you trial the equipment, teach you how to use it, and guide you through the NDIS application, keeping the process as stress-free as possible.
We support participants in managing emotional regulation, sensory challenges, and the psychological impacts of disability.
- Sensory modulation strategies – weighted blankets, visual schedules, or noise-cancelling headphones to reduce overwhelm.
- Relaxation techniques and mindfulness – deep breathing, grounding, or meditation to manage stress.
- Energy management – pacing activities and scheduling rest to reduce fatigue.
- Coping tools for daily routines – reminders, checklists, and time-blocking for smoother days.
- Confidence and resilience training – problem-solving, role-playing, and positive self-talk to build self-esteem.
If your home environment presents barriers to safety or movement, we can help. Our OTs assess how you move and function in your home and recommend options to better suit your needs. This may include grab rails, ramps, wider doorways, or redesigned bathrooms. We work with builders and NDIS planners to ensure the changes are both functional and fundable, supporting you to live more comfortably in your own space.
Recovering from injury, illness, or surgery? Our OTs help you regain lost function and return to regular activities with confidence.
- Rebuild strength and mobility with activity-based therapy
- Relearn or adapt everyday tasks
- Modify your environment to reduce barriers
- Plan for long-term recovery and independence
We help children with disabilities thrive at home, school, and in their communities. Using a fun, family-centred approach, we support learning, development, and confidence.
We work with children with autism, ADHD, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and other complex conditions.
Support includes:
- Fine motor skills for tasks like writing and using cutlery.
- Daily living activities like toileting and dressing.
- School readiness and participation.
- Attention, focus and behaviour.
- Sensory processing challenges.
- Independence and confidence.
- Keeping up with peers.

Can I use my NDIS funding for occupational therapy?
Yes. Occupational therapy services are funded under the Capacity Building budget of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), particularly the Improved Daily Living category. If you’re unsure which part of your plan applies, we can guide you through the process. Contact us to ask a question.
Do I need a referral to access NDIS occupational therapy?
Do you provide reports for NDIS plan reviews?
Yes. Our occupational therapists can prepare comprehensive reports that outline your needs, progress, therapy outcomes, and recommendations to support your application for funding, plan review or reassessment.
How do mobile occupational therapy sessions work?
Our OTs come to your home, school, work, or community. This makes therapy more convenient and ensures strategies are practical for your everyday environment. We start with an assessment, to ensure we know as much about you and your goals and needs as possible and then we create a tailored and evidence-based plan for you and support you through that plan.
Can you help if I’m self-managed or plan-managed?
