Tarin Cowley - EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST

Hi, I’m Timica Hawkins- an Exercise Physiologist for Active Ability.

For the last 12 months I have called the Sunshine Coast home. Originally from the Mid North Coast of NSW I grew up spending every spare minute in and around water.

I became an Exercise Physiologist to share my passion of being active with others, and to support people who are making a lifestyle transition or working on a specific rehabilitation goal.

Throughout my career I have had the privilege of working with people from all different backgrounds, with all levels of physical ability. I’ve worked with amputees in Africa, complex cases of acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, cerebrovascular accidents (stroke), developmental delay and everything in between. I’ve learnt how to be adaptive with physical training and rehabilitation; and individualise each program. Two things I’ve learnt along the way- is never judge a book by its cover; and sometimes, the most memorable gifts of love, humanity and triumph are experienced in the small, unspeakable moments.

I also come from a Surf Life Saving background, having competed in surf boat rowing and worked on and off as a Lifeguard for 15 years. I used to ride a surfboard (one day I’ll do it again…) and I’ve been involved with Surfing for the Disabled here on the Sunshine Coast. When I’m not at work you’ll usually find me swimming in the Noosa National Park, watching a sunrise, hiking, or laid back reading a great book.

Favourite quotes, I don’t need easy, I just need possible. Bethany Hamilton.

Every single person has unrealised gifts, and I look forward to helping you realise yours! Timica Hawkins.
