I’m a Wollongong-based Exercise Physiologist and I am so excited to be pursuing my career in healthcare.
For fun, I hike in nature, lay by the seaside with friends and avoid going running more than once a week (we all have our weaknesses, but I find other ways to keep myself very active). In the past few years, I have taken up skiing and love winter snow trips with friends and family. Keeping moving with a range of different fun activities is my aim!
I am an empathetic practitioner and take a holistic approach to patient care to ensure that the right plan is found for each individual’s treatment. My main focus is providing the education, support and self-management strategies needed to empower my clients to best support themselves and achieve their goals. Keeping sessions enjoyable is my main priority… doing exercise doesn’t need to be a chore!
My special areas of interest include disability-specific work, chronic pain management, and pre-natal and post-natal care. I have experience working in each of these areas. Some examples of disabilities that I have supported my clients to manage include Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Spinal cord injury, Acquired brain injury, Autism, ADHD and mental illness.
I provide Active Ability’s mobile exercise physiology services to the Illawarra area of New South Wales. I travel from Bellambi to Albion Park, including the greater Lake Illawarra area.
Through the National Disability Insurance Scheme, exercise physiology is a Capacity Building Support that can be funded through either ‘Improved Health and Wellbeing’ or ‘Improved Daily Living Skills’. Active Ability is a mobile service, don’t charge for travel and don’t have a waiting list so you get to use more of your funding on therapy and can get started immediately!
Do you have funding through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)?
Could you do with some support from an exercise physiologist to achieve your goals?
