Get to know your NDIS physiotherapist, Dilroop Singh

We’ve asked our friendly and knowledgeable physiotherapist, Dilroop, a couple of questions so that you can get to know him!

Why did you become a physiotherapist?

I became a physiotherapist because I have always wanted to work in a profession where I can make meaningful and positive change for people. Being a physiotherapist is a rewarding profession wherein I can help individuals achieve their goals.

What has led to your passion for working in disability?

I have worked extensively with people diagnosed with various disabilities, not only as a physiotherapist but also in other support roles. My passion continued to grow as I saw individual’s achieving their goals when they received support individualised to them.

Do you have a memorable experience of assisting a client to achieve their goals that you’d like to share?

A goal I recently assisted a young client to achieve was to being able to use escalators. Due to this clients’ decreased strength, balance and coordination, and poor depth perception, this task was a massive challenge for him. By working in conjunction with his parents, we were able to help him achieve this goal and assist him to be more independent when out in the community.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy staying physically active which includes going to the gym regularly and playing social sports with my friends. But I also look forward to relaxing and watching a movie or TV series after work as well.

What is your favourite sport or physical activity?

My favourite sport which takes up most of my free time is Brazilian jiujitsu, which is a grappling sport similar to wrestling and judo. It by far takes up the most real estate of my spare time.

In another life, if you weren’t a physiotherapist, what do you think you’d be doing?

If I wasn’t a physiotherapist, I would wish to be an expert interpreter. I wish I had the ability to speak and understand every language.

What is one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you? Do you have a hidden talent?

Something people might be surprised about is that I used to play a lot of competitive online games whilst I was at school and university. I think I’d still be good at those games if I start playing them again.

What is your favourite movie?

My favourite movie is Taare Zameen Par. It is an emotional rollercoaster of a movie, and would recommend everyone to watch it.
